Call for Presentations
MIH Tech and Prep Summit Focusing on Technology, MIH Sustainability, and Disaster Preparedness
Please submit your presentation proposals (45 minutes) on the following topics.
Focus areas include:
MIH CLINICAL & TECHNOLOGY
- AI and Patient Communications: Implementing AI and advanced patient communication systems to enhance patient engagement and management of health conditions.
- Remote Patient Monitoring and Telehealth: Utilizing these technologies for improved healthcare delivery. Topics may include lessons learned, implementation approaches, and best practices for MIH/CP programs looking to implement patient monitoring or telehealth.
- Point of Care Testing and Patient Assessment Tools: Adoption of new tools, such as ultrasound, cardiac monitoring, or others for better patient assessment.
- Medication and Inventory Management: Innovations such as barcode scanning for real-time inventory updates, comparable to hospital systems, adapted for use in emergency or MIH/CP vehicles.
- Technology and Innovation Cost-Efficiencies: Highlight technological advancements, process improvement tools, or other strategies for reducing costs and creating efficiencies for MIH/CP operations and care delivery.
- Interprofessional Collaboration: Improving collaboration and communication through telehealth and enhancing interoperability among teams.
DISASTER PREPAREDNESS
- Disaster Preparedness Strategies: Emphasis on presenting new program data and insights to shape future practices and best practices in Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) and the importance of engaging MIH and CP for effective disaster response. Topics may include:
- Natural Disasters (heatwaves, hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, floods, etc)
- Public Health Emergencies
- Mass Casualty Events
- Environmental Health Emergencies (air quality crises, hazardous materials spills, etc)
- Social and Civil Disruption (civil unrest, refugee crises, etc)
- Connectivity and Communications: Strategies and innovations for effective deployment and response, leveraging telehealth and other technologies for real-time data sharing and overcoming communication barriers.
- Training MIH/CP Teams for Disaster Response: Discuss training and development strategies to prepare MIH/CP teams for rapid response in emergencies. Topics may include disaster drills, emergency medical services (EMS) collaboration, and building relationships with local healthcare providers and emergency management agencies.
- Care for Special Populations (as it relates to Disaster Relief): Strategies for effectively caring for at-risk populations during disasters, ensuring access to essential resources (water, food, electricity, medical apparatus). The integration and collaboration with other teams to improve disaster preparedness and response including resource management for vulnerable populations to ensure continuity of care.
- Cross-Sector Collaboration and Program Success Stories: Share lessons learned, success stories, and impact of your agency and/or partners as it relates to disaster response, care for special populations, and/or collaborative roles for EMS, Fire, and Mobile Integrated Health and Community Paramedicine.
MIH LEADERSHIP & SUSTAINABILITY
- Building Sustainable MIH/CP Business Models: Approaches for MIH/CP program development, funding streams, budgeting practices, as well as strategies for managing program growth while maintaining service quality.
- Community Partnerships: Explore the role of community partnerships in securing long-term sustainability for MIH/CP programs. Topics could include collaborative efforts with local governments, social service agencies, and hospitals to leverage shared resources and reduce costs.
- Medicare, Medicaid, and Funding Sources for MIH/CP: Examine the current and future state of Medicare and Medicaid funding for MIH/CP programs. Review available alternate funding sources and reimbursement pathways to improve financial sustainability.
- Contract Negotiation and Payor Relationships for MIH/CP: Share insights into negotiating successful contracts with payors, government agencies, and healthcare providers. Examine strategies to build strong relationships with insurance companies and managed care organizations for sustainable program financing.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Using Metrics to Drive Funding and Growth: Showcase how data collection, outcomes measurement, and reporting can be leveraged to demonstrate the financial and clinical impact of MIH/CP programs.
- Value-Based Care and Reimbursement in MIH/CP: Explore how MIH/CP can align with new reimbursement models and value-based care approaches; presentations on payor priorities, healthcare gaps, payor contracts, risk-sharing agreements, and value-based incentives that enhance program sustainability.
- Workforce Development and Retention Strategies: Explore challenges and solutions for workforce and the sustainability of MIH/CP programs. Discuss recruitment, retention, and compensation strategies for a skilled MIH/CP and first responder workforce.
